This place is really lovely. Being in amongst the trees creates a very relaxing environment. The room was a good size with comfy beds and a nice seating area. There was a decent coffee machine in the room as well as a speaker to play music. The big window with a view of the trees was amazing - especially when the deer visit at dusk. Nice and quiet place. Breakfast was delicious and very comprehensive (lots of choices if you want western style or japanese style). All the staff are very friendly and accommodating (especially Ayako). The onsen was nice and I particularly liked that it was open all night as I prefer to use it alone or with few people in. The shared chill out area and games room were something I wasn't expecting but a nice surprise. We made good use of this space and enjoyed the welcome drink - a nice touch. The hotel have electric bikes for hire for a very reasonable rate which we used to cycle to the Botanical Gardens. A few previous guests have commented about the rooms needing a paint but it actually looks like they have chosen a rustic style of decor and it didn't bother us at all. It works with the industrial style of polished concrete in the bathroom. We were also almost put off by previous guests suggesting that the location is too far from anything. In reality it's a 5 minute walk down the driveway to a bus stop and a 20 min ride to Gora where you can connect to most places very easily. We really loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again if we are back in Japan.

This was a real retreat from the city and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. We left feeling recharged and at ease after just 1 night in this beautiful space. The room was a good size, with comfortable beds and a gorgeous view of the autumn foliage. The powerful speakers were an added bonus! The common areas were abundant for rest and relaxation, with board games and coloring sheets, snacks and beverages for all. The compound was so peaceful and quiet, it was such a dream. Meals were also delicious, we had both dinner and breakfast and everything was delicious. I was particularly impressed by the extensive and generous buffet breakfast spread.

We loved everything! The room, the forest view, the onsen, the breakfast -- all was outstanding. We ordered room service for dinner the second night because we were too tired after our day of hiking and it was perfect. Good value for our money and very healthy. Do that if you don't want to have their lovely restaurant dinner. Loved the pastry choices and coffee/tea/beverage choices in the common room. That room was wonderfully equipped with board games and books. The staff was wonderful. Both reception and the restaurant staff. Housekeeping staff were so nice too and efficient bringing towels or whatever we required.

I stayed at this property for 2 nights and it was at the end of a 3 week trip around Japan, so the quiet and remote location was perfect for me. The room was a good size and the public onsen was really nice after a big day of sightseeing. The rooms do need a refresh of paint, but otherwise the shower was good and handy to have the coffee/tea machine and fridge as well. I really loved the breakfast buffet, it was delicious. It is at least a 30-40min windy bus ride from the main area and then a fair up hill walk from the bus stop - which I didn't mind.

Tanya

The location is spectacular with peaceful scenery and the forest smell is beautiful. In spring all the garden was blooming and coming back to life. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast the food was excellent and the rooms are spacious and really beautifully presented. The Onsen was a welcome end to each day. You need to get a taxi to and from Gora to access things if you don't have a car but easy to do with an app. Otherwise there is a bus out the front that goes to the station. Highly recommended if you want to get away and enjoy some down time
